Citi HomeRun® FAQs

  • HomeRun® is designed to make homeownership more accessible by removing the roadblocks that buyers face. Qualified borrowers may be able to buy or refinance at a low rate with as little as 3% down, avoid private mortgage insurance (PMI), use eligible gift funds or down payment assistance and benefit from flexible credit guidelines that look beyond a credit score alone.

  • You may qualify for HomeRun® if you're buying or refinancing in an eligible Citi market, your debt-to-income ratio is 43% or less and your loan amount is no more than $832,750 (or $1,249,125 in certain high-cost areas). If you’re buying outside an eligible Citi market, your income must not exceed 120% of the median income for that area. Speak to a Citi Specialist to see if you qualify and determine if HomeRun® is your best option.

  • HomeRun® can be used to buy or refinance single-family homes, condos, co-ops and two-unit properties. Financing is available across a wide range of home prices, with higher loan limits available in certain high-cost markets.

  • HomeRun® is built with flexibility in mind. Qualified buyers may be able to purchase a home with as little as 5% down, and in some cases, their own contribution can be as little as 1%, with the remainder coming from eligible gift funds, grants or down payment assistance programs. Citi also looks at your overall financial picture and factors like employment history, on-time payments and a debt-to-income ratio of up to 43%.

  • HomeRun® borrowers must complete a home-buyer education course through a Citi-approved housing counseling agency before closing, and buyers of two-unit properties must also complete landlord training. Because other eligibility requirements vary by market, speak with a Citi Specialist to understand your options and determine whether HomeRun® is right for you.

    • For single-family homes, as little as 3% down is needed with loan amounts up to $832,750 or up to $1,249,125 in high-cost markets. Up to a maximum of $7,500 is available on the purchase of a primary residence in markets with Citibank branches, and is subject to additional property, income and other eligibility requirements. The credit only can be applied to non-recurring closing costs, cannot be applied to interim interest and prepaid escrows, and cannot be used for any portion of the down payment. The borrower may not receive cash back at closing. The credit cannot be combined with any other Citi provided incentive, offer or promotion. Lender Paid Assistance is only available on Purchase transactions.
